Binghamton Bearcat pitching ace Mike Bunal has been drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 17th round of the Major league Baseball Draft.  Bunal was named the America East Pitcher of the Year and went 6-0 with a 2.39 ERA in America East play.  He started for Binghamton in the Bearcats NCAA Tournament game against number-one ranked Texas A & M.

During his BU career Bunal won 13 games and struck out 157 batters in 163 innings pitched.  According to social media reports Bunal is expected to join the Boise Hawks later this month.  Boise is the short-season Class A affiliate of the Rockies.

Bunal becomes the 11th Bearcat selected in the Major League Draft.  The Bearcats won the regular season and post-season America East championships and went on to play in the NCAA Regionals where they lost to Texas A & M  and the University of Minnesota.
