The America East Championship Softball Tournament hosted by the regular season champion Binghamton Bearcats began with the annual awards banquet held in the Mandela Room on campus at Binghamton University on Tuesday night.  Nine Binghamton standouts were honored by the conference.

Four Bearcats were named to the America East First Team.  Junior second baseman Stephanie Bielec, junior third baseman Kate Richard and junior outfielder Jessica Rutherford were repeat selections while Gabby Bracchi as the designated player earned all-conference honors for the first time.

Three Bearcats were honored with Second-Team All-Conference honors.  Freshman pitcher Rayn Gibson, senior shortstop Crysti Eichner and senior outfielder Bridget Hunt all were named to the America East Second Team.

A pair of Bearcats were selected to the All-Academic Team.  Eichnor added those accolades to her Second Team All-Conference honors as well as Bracchi, a First Team pick.

The Bearcats were well represented on the All-Rookie Team as well.  Gibson, catcher Sara Herskowitz and pitcher Rozlyn Price all were named to the All-Rookie team.

The Bearcats begin tournament play Thursday morning at 11 AM as they face the Albany Great Danes at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
