The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown celebrated its 75th anniversary yesterday.  The Hall of Fame's official opening was on June 12, 1939.  Over 300 people gathered in the museum's Plaque Gallery for the occasion.  Hall of Fame members Cal Ripken, Jr. and Joe Morgan took part in the ceremony.

Today, the Hall opened a revamped Babe Ruth exhibit.  Ruth was one of those chosen for entry in that first induction class in 1936 and honored at the the initial ceremony at the Hall of Fame in 1939.   Other greats included in that group are: Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner and Walter Johnson.

The Hall of Fame will induct six new members in ceremonies beginning at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 27 at the Clark Sports Center.  This year's class includes: Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas, Bobby Cox, Tony La Russa and Joe Torre.
