A Bainbridge couple is dead following a two vehicle crash at an intersection in the Town of Colesville that is notorious for motor vehicle accidents.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say a car carrying 56 year old Edson Kitchen and his wife, 54 year old Mary Kitchen drove into the intersection of Colesville Road and Sanitaria Springs Road at North Road shortly at about 6:10 p.m. June 12 for an unknown reason and collided with a GMC truck that had the right-of-way.  Officials say the truck was unable to avoid hitting the Kitchens' Subaru and impacted on the driver’s side, causing the vehicle to roll over and come to rest a little way further down the road.

The couple was dead when responders arrived at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 42 year old Christopher Condon was taken to Lourdes Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Authorities say they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
