The suspect in a fatal car/pedestrian hit-and-run in Binghamton at the beginning of December is free on bail but not free to leave the country or even Broome County without permission.

The parents of 26 year old Aizaz Siddiqui put up their house for the $50,000 property bond set as bail and all surrendered their passports.

Siddiqui is accused of hitting and killing Binghamton University Student 20 year old Stefani Lineva on Route 434 shortly after 2 a.m. December 3 and leaving the scene.

He was turned in to authorities on a tip but police say there had been a passenger in his BMW.  Siddiqui, so far is the only one charged.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information can contact Binghamton Police Detectives at (607) 772-7080.

The investigation is continuing and prosecutors say a Grand Jury could opt to file more charges in addition to leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident resulting in death.

The bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 property bond.  The District Attorney’s office indicated they were not pleased with the amount at which bail was set and said the amount should have been $100,000.  Prosecutors did not elaborate on the reason behind the objection.
