Backyard Battle: M-E at U-E

There are plenty of good football match-ups this weekend in Section 4 high school football.  One of those battles will be at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott where the host Union-Endicott Tigers will face the Spartans from Maine-Endwell.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM (air at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).

Both teams suffered home losses last weekend.  The Tigers lost a heartbreaker to the cross-river rivals from Vestal in overtime.  The Spartans were clobbered by Owego 42-6.  It was the first loss to a Section 4 team for M-E in 54 straight games.  It also snapped their five game winning streak after losing in the New York State semi-final playoff round last season.  Coming into Friday's contest M-E is 5-1 while U-E is 3-3.
