Binghamton’s zoo has another baby prehensile-tailed porcupine.

The little mammal was born on Saint Patrick’s Day to Mattie and Zoey and is display at Ross Park with mom, dad and big sister Norwan in the New World Tropics Building.

The porcupines, which are native to South America and feed on tree bark, fruits, blossoms and crops, are in the Species Survival Plan.

The zoo is asking the public to come up with a name for the baby with entries taken on the website: www.rossparkzoo.com until March 28.

Bear in mind, it’s not known if the porcupine baby is a boy or a girl right now.

The zoo at 60 Morgan Road on Binghamton's Southside is open weekends until the season opening toward the end of April.
