It’s probably not a typical day on the job, but a rewarding one as an officials with the Department of Environmental Conservation was called to a daycare in Owego.

The DEC got the call from a woman who runs the daycare who told them some of the children found a kitten stuck in a drainage ditch outside the home and she realized it was a baby bobcat.

The conservation officer was able to retrieve the kitten and found another baby bobcat nearby.

Officials determined the kittens had been abandoned by their mother.

They are being cared for at a wildlife rehabilitation facility and will be released into the wild when they are older.
