The Binghamton Mets are going to get a new name.  The team owner John Hughes made it official tonight (Thursday) along with a list of other changes fans will find when they head to NYSEG Stadium.

The team will launch a "Name the Team" contest beginning on opening day, April 7.  Submissions will be accepted through April 25th when the top six entries will move to the next round.  The new name won't be unveiled until after the 2016 season.

Fans will notice more rapid changes coming to the Stadium.  Professional Sports Catering takes over the concession with an increased number of food options.  The Team Store is being totally renovated and will partner with MILB.com to offer a wider variety of merchandise.  The playing surface has been replaced with new lighting coming in 2017.

Hughes also said there will again be over 20 fireworks nights and the B-Mets Kids Zone is being expanded along with a new, raised deck for the 2017 season.  Binghamton opens the 2016 campaign at home on Thursday, April 7 at 6:35 PM hosting the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
