Reports are spreading like wildfire that the Binghamton Senators are leaving Binghamton.

The Ottawa Citizen posted a story Friday, July 8 saying the local AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators will not play in Binghamton in 2017, speculating the team will move to Belleville, Ontario.

Binghamton Senators officials are promising more information next week.

Broome County Executive Debra Preston told the Ottawa paper that the American Hockey League has a commitment to stay in Broome County and she is satisfied with that.

B-Sens spokesman Rob Lippolis sent an email to several local media groups saying local hockey fans have nothing to worry about and, quote: “When the dust settles they will be very happy.”
