WNBF News/ Roger Neel Photo

Following last night’s doubleheader sweep over  Portland  the Binghamton Mets have opened up a ten and one-half game lead over the Sea Dogs in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League.  The B-Mets can increase that margin with another home victory tonight at 7:05 (air at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).

Mark Cohoon makes the start for the B-Mets.  He is 4-3 this season.  He’ll be opposed by Keith Couch who has a slate of 6-2 for the Sea Dogs.  Cohoon makes his 12th start of the season and second against Portland.  He started the campaign in the bullpen and was 2-0 in four appearances.  Couch also started the year in the bullpen and is 3-0 in six starts since joining the regular rotation.

The two teams square off in a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 5:05 PM. The series concludes on Sunday with a 1:05 PM contest.  Going into tonight’s action the B-Mets hold a 10-6 slate against Portland.

The Broome Sports Foundation is holding its annual Sports Memorabilia and Collectibles silent auction tonight and tomorrow at the games.  There will be separate items up for bid each night.  There will be autographed jerseys, photos signed by Hall of Famers and other items for sports fans of all ages.  The display is located in the stadium concourse.  Proceeds benefit the Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund.
