B-Mets Look for Repeat
The Binghamton Mets hope they can win their second consecutive Eastern League Championship as they host the Reading Fightin Phils at 6:35 tonight (air at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF) at NYSEG Stadium. It's the first game of the best-of-five playoff series. Last season the B-Mets went on to defeat Richmond to win the Eastern League Championship.
Binghamton hosts the first two games of the series with Thursday night's start also set for 6:35. Game three will be held in Reading on Friday night with game four if needed Saturday night in Reading and should there be a game five that would be Sunday night also in Reading.
Manager Pedro Lopez sends Tyler Pill to the mound in a starting assignment tonight. Pill has made six starts since being assigned from Las Vegas and he has won all six. He carries a 2.08 ERA into the post-season.
The B-Mets got some good news prior to finalizing their playoff roster. Hard-hitting Josh Rodriguez has been sent to Binghamton from Triple-A Las Vegas. Rodriguez was hitting .282 with 19 home runs and 76 RBI.
