B-Mets in Reading
The Binghamton Mets are in Reading continuing a series against the Fightin Phils.
August 31, Reading topped the B-Mets 6-2. Steven Matz started on the mound for Binghamton and threw 5.1 innings scoreless innings but the bullpen faltered in the later innings.
The loss dropped Binghamton five games behind the Fightin Phils in the Eastern Division. Trenton is in third place four games behind the B-Mets. The top two teams in each division quality for the playoffs.
The new month brings better results with the B-Mets slipping by the Phils 7-6.
Gabriel Ynoa got the start against Reading's Ben Lively. Ynoa was 9-8 with an ERA of 3.83. Lively was 8-7 with a 4.22 ERA. Matz and fellow hurler Erik Goeddel completed their Major League rehab assignments and have returned to New York. Binghamton returns home to host the Altoona Curve September 4 to begin a four-game series to close out the regular campaign.
