The Binghamton Mets are edging closer to officially clinching a playoff spot but have been unable to overtake the Portland Sea Dogs and oust them from first place in the Eastern League's Eastern Division.  The B-Mets trail Portland by two games in the battle for the top spot.  Binghamton is 77-52 while Portland is 79-50.  Binghamton's magic number to clinch a playoff spot is two.

Erie scored six runs in the fourth inning and controlled things from there as they shutout the B-Mets 7-0 last night.  Michael Fulmer made his Double-A debut in the start for Binghamton.  He gave up six runs on six hits and suffered the loss.  Wilsen Palacios earned his eighth victory of the season for Erie.

Binghamton wraps-up the series tonight at 7:05 (air at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Gariel Ynoa gets the start for the B-Mets.  Binghamton returns home to host Akron on Friday night at 7:05.  Following the Akron- Binghamton series the B-Mets will entertain New Britain at NYSEG Stadium.
