B-Mets Can Increase Hold On First Place Tonight
The red-hot Binghamton Mets look to increase their lead in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League tonight in Maine when they meet the Portland Sea Dogs at 7 PM (6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). The B-Mets come into the contest with a nine- game lead on both Trenton and Portland. Binghamton's record is 47-28 while the Thunder and Sea Dogs stand at 38-37.
Last night Erik Goeddel struck out seven and earned his seventh victory as the B-Mets shutout Portland 3-0. Tonight, Darin Gorski gets the start for manager Pedro Lopez. He is 1-0 with an ERA of 2.00.
This is a huge week for the B-Mets. Following the three-game series in Maine the B-Mets return home to host Trenton for five games beginning Thursday night at 7:05. Originally set for four games the two teams will meet for a fifth game to make-up a rain-out in Trenton earlier this season. The B-Mets don't play in Trenton again this season so the game will be played in Binghamton. That will make it eight games against their closest rivals in just one week.
