As the Eastern League heads to the all-star break the Binghamton Mets have been the cream of the crop overall in the circuit.  Binghamton has the best record in the EL with a 53-33 slate.  That puts them eight and one-half games ahead of second place Portland and nine and one-half games up on Trenton in the Eastern Division.  Harrisburg leads the Western Division with a 50-41 mark.

The B-Mets boast several of the top players in the circuit.  The Eastern League Player of the Month, Cesar Puello is hitting .326 at the break...second in the league in that category.  Allan Dykstra is fourth in batting average hitting at a .313 clip. Puello is in a three-way tie for home runs with 15 while Dykstra is right behind with 14.

In the pitching department Logan Verrett has eight wins and is tied for the top spot in the league. Erik Goeddel is in a deadlock for second with seven victories. Jeff Walters has 22 saves and leads the league in that category.

The B-Mets return to NYSEG Stadium Thursday for a doubleheader with Portland.  The two teams will finish a game suspended after the second inning with no score.  That will go nine innings.  Game two will follow with a seven inning contest.  Airtime for the twinbill is 5:20 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
