The New York State Legislature is back in session and one local representative is outlining her list of priorities.

Democratic Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo of Endwell was sworn in to her sixth term January 7 and is calling for economic diversification to include further development of agriculture and niche markets.

She says she also plans to work on a package of Southern Tier infrastructure improvements and is pressing for answers to questions about how the planned closing of the Broome Developmental Center will be handled.  She says she’s not assured that provisions are in place for the safety of clients, secure placement in residences and security for employees.

Normally, legislators can outline their priorities based on the Governor’s State of the State address.  That message has been delayed due to the death of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s father, former governor Mario Cuomo on New Year’s Day.
