Investigators say a juvenile has been charged in connection with a Christmas Eve fire in the Village of Owego.

Authorities say the youth was arrested following an arson investigation.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, investigators determined the structure fire in the area of 90 Spencer Avenue was started by a village juvenile who had been playing with fireworks.

Officials say the youth was arrested for fourth-degree criminal mischief and is scheduled to appear before the Tioga County Probation Department at a later date.

Owego village firefighters were assisted by units from Campville in battling the blaze.

The Tioga County Fire Investigation Team worked with the sheriff's office to determine the cause of the fire.

The name and age of the suspect were not released. Authorities also did not identify what type of fireworks were linked to the blaze and exactly how the fire began.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
