The robbery at the Quality Market at 1206 Vestal Avenue on the South Side was reported around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect allegedly displayed a handgun and took some money from a cash register. He apparently fled the store on foot and was last seen heading east toward Mary Street.

No injuries were reported in the heist, which happened at the small store located just east of the South City Publick House restaurant.

Police were advised the man who robbed the business was wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans and sunglasses. His face may have been covered up during the incident.

Uniform officers and detectives canvassed the neighborhood looking for potential witnesses.
