America celebrates and remembers the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces with Memorial Day on Monday.  The holiday is celebrated nationwide on the final Monday of May.  The day was originally known as Decoration Day and was set-up to commemorate the soldiers who died in the Civil War.  It was called Decoration Day because it was a time when graves would be decorated with flowers in remembrance and honor of those in the military who died in service to America.

In our area numerous parades  will be held.on Monday.  Some of those scheduled include:

Endicott beginning at 10:30 AM on Washington Avenue and a service at Veterans Memorial Park at 11 AM.

Johnson City beginning at 10 AM from Floral Avenue to the cemetery.

Town of Maine beginning at 9 AM at Maine Memorial School.

Windsor beginning at 10:30 AM at First Niagara Bank on to Riverside Cemetery.

Greene at 10 AM on Genesee Street to the cemetery.

Owego begins with a Roll Call Memorial of deceased Tioga County veterans at 9 AM at the Tioga County Veterans Memorial and a parade to follow.

Susquehanna, Pa. 11 AM on Main Street.

Town of Binghamton at 10 AM beginning in Hawleyton at the Fire Station and proceeding to the cemetery.
