The Broome County Family Violence Prevention Council is trying to help residents protect their hard-earned money from scammers.

The Council’s Elder Abuse Prevention Committee and the Broome County Council of Churches are holding a free seminar called "Knowledge is Power" to give older adults, their caregivers and professionals information on preventing becoming a victim of a scam.

Presenters from the Attorney General’s Office, the FBI, local police, Visions Federal Credit Union and others will speak.

The seminar is being held June 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Visions Federal Credit Union at 3301 Country Club Road in Endwell.
