Scheduled flights to and from Greater Binghamton Airport soon will be provided by a single airline.

American Airlines has revealed it will drop service to Binghamton and Elmira as of February 15.

American flights connected BGM Airport with Philadelphia. The company said the move will "better position" American to serve its customers.

The decision by American is the latest blow to the regional airport in the Town of Maine.

United Airlines intends to pull out of Binghamton on November 29. United said its service between the Broome County and Newark was “not meeting expectations and is no longer sustainable.”

The moves by American and United mean the only scheduled passenger service at the Binghamton airport in about four months will be provided by Delta Air Lines.

Delta currently offers service between Binghamton and Detroit.

Broome County aviation commissioner David Hickling could not be reached immediately to comment on the impending loss of service.
