Annual Veterans Walk Scheduled For Sunday

The 7th Annual Veterans Walk is planned for this Sunday at the Joseph P. Mangan Hillcrest American Legion Post #1194, 363 West Service Road, Binghamton. The event begins at 1 PM.

Proceeds from the walk and other festivities that day will benefit Binghamton/Southern Tier Veterans and their families in need.  Along with the walk there will be a silent auction, antique car show, chicken barbeque and musical entertainment.

Organizers say the Post has raised over $66,000 over the past six years to help area veterans and their families.  Oxford Veteran's Home has received $30,000 to help build a room for patients with Alzheimer's Disease.  In addition the Post purchased seven motorized ceiling lifts for the Veteran's Home.

Another $24,000 has been raised for the 204th Engineers Family Readiness Group and the 27th Brigade.  People are invited to walk or visit for food and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
