The owner of a defunct Delaware County animal shelter for terminally ill pets is being barred from owning animals for at least six months.

A judge issued the ruling against Susan Marino as the court considers 22 animal cruelty charges filed against her and the former Angel's Gate shelter near Kortright.

Marino is also accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations but failing to file required financial reports as a non-profit.

Marino has denied allegations made by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that she failed to provide adequate sustenance and treatment for the animals in her care.
