The American Heart Association teamed up with the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad for training sessions at the Oakdale Mall yesterday.  To celebrate CPR and Awareness Week volunteers instructed several dozen people in Hands- Only CPR.

Led by Michael Taylor, the Deputy Director of Administration/Operation Community Outreach for the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, people were able to watch a brief training video and then practice proper technique for chest compressions on a training dummy.

The training is designed to enable someone to hopefully give a fallen person who is not breathing a better chance to survive until EMS or better trained personnel arrive to assist.

Additional training and advanced instruction can be arranged by contacting the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad at www.unionems.com.
