America East Softball Tournament Begins

The America East Softball Championship tournament got underway today (Wednesday) at the Bearcats Sports Complex in Vestal. In the opening game Stony Brook defeated UMBC 3-1.  That puts the Seawolves into tomorrow's 11:00 AM game against the number one seed Binghamton Bearcats.  Binghamton got a bye today.  In the regular season the Bearcats took all three games played against Stony Brook in a series played at Binghamton.  Should the Bearcats win their first game they would advance to another 11:00 AM game on Friday.

In other action today Albany defeated the Hartford Hawks 7-1.  In the third game of the day UMBC topped Hartford 4-0.  The loss makes Hartford the first team eliminated in the tourney.

Besides the Binghamton versus Stony Brook game tomorrow morning other contests include Albany facing Maine at 1:30 PM followed by UMBC matching up against an opponent to be named.
