Two young Amish girls have been found safe, dropped off at a residence near their home in Northern New York following a daylong alert that extended south to Chenango, Broome and Tioga Counties.

An Amber Alert stretching from the Canadian border to the Pennsylvania border and all of Western New York was issued after two Amish girls were abducted in Saint Lawrence County as they were minding the family roadside farm stand at 7:20 p.m. August 13.

Authorities a man in a small white 4-door sedan had been at the farm stand, put something in the back of the car, drove off and the 12 and 6 year old girls were gone.

The children were returned to their family in the evening.

Officials say the residents of the home where the girls were dropped off were not involved in the abduction.

The investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
