Johnson City police say village residents should begin following alternate side-of-the-street parking rules.

The regulations are scheduled to run through March 31.

Between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., vehicles should park on the even side of the street if the date is an even number and on the odd side of the street if the date's an odd number.

Some village streets are exempt from the alternate side parking rules.

Although the seasonal regulation takes effect on November 1, Johnson City police will issue only warning tickets through Saturday. After that, vehicles improperly parked could be ticketed.

The city of Binghamton alternate side regulations will go into effect December 1.
