Jurors in the Almond Upton murder trial could begin deliberations as early as August 3.

The has rested its case and rebuttal witnesses were expected to testify about three weeks after proceedings in Broome County Court got underway.

Upton is accused of intentionally swerving to run over Trooper Christopher Skinner on Interstate 81 between Chenango Bridge and Castle Creek in 2014.

Testimony in the trial has been focused on Upton’s mental health with conflicting information from different experts as to whether the Florida man was delusional at the time of the attack.

Upton does have a record of treatment for mental issues, including bi-polar disorder.
