(Not actual Whitney Point alligator pictured)

Residents in Northern Broome County are being warned to stay away from an alligator that has been seen in the Whitney Point and Lisle area.

The reptile is believed to have been released by a pet owner.

Anyone seeing the animal is being advised to contact the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Photos of the reptile have been posted on social media sites and its location was put around the Tiougnioga River.

The DEC may be looking to relocate the animal in a more appropriate location.
