Surprise!

Unexpected guests do occasionally drop in on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program.

During Thursday morning's segment with Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park director Steven Contento, we were joined by volunteer coordinator Melissa Grippin and an American alligator named Brutus.  Watch the video to experience some of the fun!

Contento said Brutus is part of the Zoomobile collection program, which visits schools, nursing homes and parks around the area.

Volunteer coordinator Melissa Grippin said Brutus is about two years old. I did a quick measurement with a ruler and he appeared to be about 28 inches long.

FYI: The zoo on Morgan Road is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays during July and August.

The zoo's annual Ice Cream Safari event will be held this Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
