Albany Tops Binghamton In America East Softball

The America East regular season champion Albany Great Danes defeated the second-seed Binghamton Bearcats in the America East Championship Softball Tournament at the Bearcats Sports Complex today 4 - 2.  Charlise Castro blasted a go-ahead two-run home run to power the Great Danes to the victory.

Tiffany McIntosh clubbed a home run for the Bearcats, her eighth of the season.  Brittany MacFawn went the distance on the mound for Albany upping her league-best record to 28-7. Demi Laney made the start and took the loss for BU. With the win Albany advances to tomorrow's scheduled noon championship round game.

The Bearcats must play again this afternoon to get another crack at Albany.  In the double-elimination tournament format BU will face the winner of the Hartford-Stony Brook game which is going on now.  If Binghamton wins the Bearcats advance to face Albany again tomorrow.
