The Albany Great Danes are heading to the America East Championship round for the fifth consecutive season as they eliminated the Binghamton Bearcats by a score of 79-43.  Shereesha Richards who was selected as the America East Player of the Year, dominated play with 33 points and nine rebounds for the Great Danes.

Albany advances to meet the Maine Black Bears who downed Stony Book earlier in the day 51-48 in their semi-final duel.  They will play Friday in Albany at 4:30 PM on ESPNU with the winner getting an automatic NCAA Tournament bid. The Great Danes are looking for their fifth straight title.

Binghamton was plagued by turnovers especially in the early going when the Bearcats fell behind 14-0.  In all the Bearcats turned the ball over 14 times.  Binghamton shot just 25 percent from the field making 15 of 60 attempts.  Albany shot 48 percent making 32 of 67 shots.

The Bearcats were led by 14 points from Imani Watkins and 11 from Kim Albrecht. Albrecht, a senior, had her family in attendance as she played her final game as a Bearcat.  BU finished 14-17 while the Great Danes moved to 25-4.
