In the two regular season meetings  Albany defeated Stony Brook in Albany 77-67 and the Seawolves captured a home court decision March 2nd with a 73-68 victory.

Stony Brook is looking for its first-ever NCAA bid as a Divsion I program.  The Great Danes are looking for their second straight championship and fourth in the past nine seasons.  Last year Albany knocked Stony Brook out of the America East Tournament in Albany.  At that time the Seawolves were the regular season champions.

Stony Brook finished the regular season with a 13-3 conference record while Albany was 9-7.  The Seawolves were a number-two seed while the Great Danes were a four-seed entering the post-season.  This will be the 64th all-time meeting between the two programs.  Albany leads the series 37-26. The Seawolves have won 12 of the last 16 meetings.  Albany is 3-0 in America East title games.  The Great Danes own all three of those wins against Vermont.
