A former candidate for Congress is under federal indictment for allegedly trying to get support to wipe out a Muslim hamlet in Hancock.

63 year old Christian pastor and former Tennessee congressional candidate, Robert Doggart is charged with solicitation to commit a civil rights violation, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

A plea deal worked out in April was thrown out by a federal judge last week.

Federal Investigators had followed a trail of social media posts calling for volunteers to conduct mass murder at Islamberg and burn down a Mosque and school.  They said Doggart was behind the plot and he was arrested last spring.

After pleading guilty to making a threatening facebook post, conspiring with at least one other person to burn down the Mosque, school and cafeteria at the compound in Hancock and trying to recruit others to kill the residents, Doggart was released.

Members of the Islamberg community expressed outrage that Doggart was allowed to go free.

Following his latest indictment, Doggart was released on bail.

Officials with the Council on American-Islamic Relations say they fear there is still danger to Islamic communities.
