Vestal Police now say the woman who drove through the garage of a home on  Jensen Road on Labor Day is being charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Officials September 16 said 33 year old Ayesha Washington of Vestal was getting the additional charge following toxicology test results.  She had originally been ticketed for failure to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely and driving at a speed not reasonable for road conditions.

Police say the car traveled all the way through the garage and out the side of the house, causing a gas leak and structural damage to the building. A firefighter neighbor quickly turned off the gas line.

Washington was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The homeowner was not allowed back in her house due to the damage and responders had to go into the home to get her cat.

The investigation is continuing.
