Accused Serial Burglar Caught in Johnson City
Police in Vestal, Silver Lake, Pennsylvania and Johnson City, along with members of the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force say they have nabbed an alleged serial burglar.
Authorities searched the Crandall Street, Binghamton home of 48 year old Charles Motzer, Junior October 16 and located Motzer a short time later at a home on Crocker Avenue in Johnson City.
Susquehanna County authorities issued an arrest warrant for Motzer concerning a burglary October 9 on Hawleyton Turnpike Road.
A search was also made on the vehicle Motzer had been suspected of driving and using to commit burglaries.
Officials say Motzer is suspected of committing several burglaries in homes in Susquehanna County and possibly in rural areas of Southern Broome County.
Motzer has ties in Pennsylvania as well as areas of Windsor and Deposit.
Police are asking anyone who may have been the victim of a recent burglary or who may have knowledge of Motzer’s recent activity and whereabouts to contact their local law enforcement agencies.
Investigators say there is reason to believe, in some cases, that Motzer may not have acted alone and may have used another vehicle besides the red 2001 Chevrolet Mote Carlo that authorities searched.
Authorities have provided photos of Motzer and the vehicle he had been driving.
