A Bainbridge man facing murder and other charges following a reported road rage incident pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Chenango County Court.

State police arrested 56-year-old John Guzy shortly after a father and son were shot in the parking lot of a business in the town of Bainbridge on October 27.

Authorities say 26-year-old Derek D. Prindle of Afton died at a Sidney hospital. His father, 60-year-old Derek S. Prindle, was treated for a gunshot wound.

Investigators said Guzy drove to State Police Troop "C" headquarters in Sidney after shooting the men. He was taken into custody without incident.

Guzy is a retired New York Police Department officer. Before his arrest, he had been working as a corrections officer at Chenango County Jail.

Guzy was indicted on 17 charges, including murder and attempted murder, last month.

After his arraignment, Guzy was sent back to the county jail, where he was being held without bail.
