A Town of Chenango man is facing drug-related charges after Broome County Sheriff’s officials were called to a report May 16 of three people passed out in a car with the passerby concerned they may have overdosed on drugs.

Authorities say they were able to wake everyone up and, on speaking to the passengers, the deputy had cause to believe they had recently used drugs.

The owner of the car, 48 year old Christopher Decker, was found in the back of the vehicle in possession of heroin and Subutex, which is a schedule three drug used for opioid addiction.

Decker is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

His son and another man were released without being charged.
