A Tompkins County Man is Killed Crossing a Street in Enfield

New York State Police say no charges are expected to be filed after a man was hit and killed by a car as he attempted to cross a street in the Town of Enfield in Tompkins County.

Officials say 43 year old Christopher Lampart of Enfield was attempting to cross Mecklenburg Road (State Route 79) at the intersection with Enfield Main Road (State Route 327)  shortly before 6:30 p.m. January 16 when he walked into the path of an eastbound car driven by a 21 year old Enfield man.

Lampart was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
