It appears a developer who was unsuccessful in being chosen for a casino license in Schoharie County may submit a bid to challenge Tioga Downs for a casino in the Southern Tier.

According to reports in the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin, Jeffry Hyman is looking to develop a former industrial site off the Brandywine Highway in the City of Binghamton. The area is bordered by Frederick and Montgomery Streets.

Binghamton Mayor Richard David earlier this week noted the site would be a viable location for a casino resort.

Several sources have confirmed the Albany-area developer has expressed interest in building a casino in Binghamton.

According to the published reports, Hyman Hemispherics LLC has applied for tax breaks in Broome County for a development of the Frederick Street site to house a hospitality and entertainment facility.

There has not been an official second bid for a Southern Tier license placed with the New York State Gaming Commission. Bids need to be submitted to the state by July 6.
