A Jail Medical Service Pays Tioga County for Understaffing

Settlement is being announced between a company that provides medical services to 13 jails in New York State and the Tioga County lockup.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office says Correction Medical Care Inc. of Blue Bell Pennsylvania will pay Tioga County $100,000 and $100,000 in Civil Penalties for shifting doctor and dentist work to lower-paid staff.

The settlement comes following an earlier investigation into some inmate deaths across the state.

Broome is among other counties also named as affected by Correction Medical Care action.
