A Sherburne man is charged with 110 counts of cruelty to animals after New York State Police say weak and dead cows were found at a farm on Casey Cheese earlier this month.

48 year old Michael Thomsen is accused of failing to provide water and food for the animals.

Investigators say waterlines were frozen and the cows had not been fed for an unknown period of time.

Authorities say the man did not have any help caring for the animals.

A veterinarian confirmed the bovines were suffering from emaciation, dehydration and respiratory infection.

Thomsen was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 bail.

The Chenango County District Attorney is looking into the process of removing the cows.

Meanwhile, family members have agreed to help in taking care of the surviving animals.
