Nimmonsburg Rotary Works to Help Community

News Radio 1290 WNBF was one of the topics discussed at the weekly meeting of the Nimmonsburg Rotary Club January 30.

It was my pleasure to be invited to speak about radio broadcasting and the history of News Radio 1290 WNBF.

Their meetings are held on Fridays in the Community Hall in the Town of Chenango Town Hall, 1529 Upper Front Street.

The Nimmonsburg Rotary was formed in 1949.  The club is involved in numerous community activities.  In the past year the club has contributed over $26,000 in scholarship funds to students in their service area.  They help fund a major elementary school project and clinic in Burma along with supporting a water resources project in Guatemala.  Other local projects include supporting educational and leadership programs at Chenango Forks schools, planting over 240 6 -8 foot tall trees and providing numerous Thanksgiving turkeys for needy families in the area.
