Police say they've arrested a man after an "elaborate" marijuana growing operation was found in the basement of his Cortland residence.

Authorities say 35-year-old Michael Craig was charged with felony marijuana possession. He also faces a misdemeanor count of growing cannabis without a license.

Craig was charged on Wednesday in connection with marijuana plants seized from his home on July 16.

In addition to the plants, police say they confiscated equipment used to grow and process marijuana.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff's Department, investigators awaited crime lab results before filing charges against Craig. He was issued appearance tickets. He's been ordered to appear in Cortland city court on November 22.
