Law enforcement agents confiscated loaded guns, drugs and thousands of dollars in cash as they took six people into custody in western Broome County.

Authorities say the four men and two women were taken into custody Monday night.

The operation started when officers stopped a vehicle on Fillmore Avenue in Endicott. They then searched a residence at 112 Fillmore Avenue and a hotel room in Vestal.

Police say they seized two loaded 9 millimeter handguns, along with methamphetamine, crack cocaine and various prescription painkillers. They also confiscated about $24,000 in suspected drug sale proceeds.

Investigators say those charged were 33-year-old Matthew Wood of Endicott; 52-year-old George Shepard of Endicott; 31-year-old Joseph Spencer of Endicott; and 41-year-old Bonnie Werner of Johnson City.

Two Kentucky residents - 27-year-old Donnie Helm Jr. and 41-year-old Sarah Armstrong - also were arrested.

Spencer was released on an appearance ticket. The other suspects were arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail.
