$580 Millon Powerball Numbers Drawn

The numbers have been drawn for the largest Powerball jackpot in the history of the 42-state lottery.

The numbers drawn Wednesday are: 5-16-22-23-29 and Powerball 6.

The jackpot amount rose to nearly $580 million due to the influx of ticket purchases before the 11 p.m. EST drawing.

Reports this morning say that two winning tickets were purchased in Missouri and Arizona.  If both winners claim the prize they will split the $579 million jackpot and will each walk away with approximately $150 million after taxes.

The chances of someone hitting the big prize is about 1 in 175 million.  A person would be more likely to get struck by lighting multiple times than to hit all 5 numbers and the red Powerball.
