When you or I step outside into bitterly cold weather, it's usually only for a short amount of time and then we're able to shake off the chill inside from the warmth of our home or car. However, for those who have no home and nowhere to go to stay warm, cold winter days are especially dangerous.

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, in the State of New York, there are 91,897 people struggling with homelessness. That means that 46 out of every 10,000 people in New York are homeless. Across the country, there are more than half a million people (that are known of) who are homeless. Don't you think it's time to take a stand and do something to change those staggering numbers?

If you're ready to fight back against homelessness, then you'll want to make sure to be part of the Binghamton Freeze Out 5K which takes place on Friday, February 28 at Highland Park in Endwell. The Freeze Out 5K is a glow in the dark outdoor run/walk and the mission of the 5K is to raise both funds and awareness for those who face the very real challenge of being homeless in the Southern Tier, with proceeds benefiting the Rescue Mission.
