Cornell University is reeling from the deaths of a student and a staff member in connection with two separate vehicle/pedestrian collisions in a matter of three days, the latest involving a Tioga County woman.

The student was hit and killed early on January 24 while walking on Route 96.

55 year old employee of the College of Human Ecology, Angela Stedwell of Spencer was killed when she was hit by a TCAT public transportation bus just before 7:30 a.m. January 26 at the entrance to a university parking lot in the Village of Cayuga Heights.

The University is providing counseling support services to anyone in the campus community who may need it.

The Cayuga Heights Police are still investigating yesterday’s collision and are asking any witnesses to call them at (607) 257-1011.
