2018 Binghamton Infrastructure Improvement Plan is in Place

The City of Binghamton is hitting the road with $4.8 million of infrastructure improvements on the to-do list this construction season.

The 2018 street plan includes $3.5 million in milling and paving, $175,000 in preventative maintenance paving and a $1.5 million dollar full street reconstruction.

Officials say the milling and paving program covers all portions of the City but to maximize resources while keeping costs in line, work will be concentrated on one section at a time.

The work is being funded through a combination of Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIP) grant funding, the Community Development Block Grant program and local borrowing.

In addition to paving, work is being done to upgrade utilities like water and sewer lines as well as sidewalks and curbs.
